Men's Basketball Renews Hudson Valley Rivalry with Marist Univerisity

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (1-4) will make a trip to its neighbors in the Hudson Valley on Friday, Nov. 21, taking on the Marist University Red Foxes (2-2) inside McCann Arena in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Army and Marist last faced off on Nov. 15, 2024, inside McCann Arena, with the Red Foxes earning a 91-88 overtime win against the Black Knights.
The game inside McCann Arena will tip off at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, with the game streaming live on ESPN+.
ARMY STORYLINES:
WHAT HAPPENED LAST GAME: Army West Point men's basketball (1-4) battled tough for 40 minutes but came up short, falling 86-73 on the road against Cornell (2-2) on Tuesday night at Newman Arena. Jorn Everson and Jacen Holloway each had huge games for Army, as both players recorded career-highs in points, as Everson led the way with 24 while Holloway was right behind him with 22. Both players were also efficient on Tuesday, as the duo went 17-29 from the field and 6-11 from three.
THE BOOGEYMAN: Sophomore forward Jacen Holloway currently leads the scoring efforts for Army, currently averaging a team-high 12.6 points a game. Most recently, Holloway is coming off of a career performance, earning a career-best 22 points on the road against Cornell. He also added career-highs in field goals made (9) and three-pointers made (2). His performance also marks his first 20+ point performance in his career and his third double-digit performance in the young season.
JORNADO WARNING: Jorn Everson played a key role off Army's bench last season and now serves as a primary member of Army's starting lineup and currently averages 12.2 points a game. The senior had a strong showing against Cornell on the road, finishing with a career-best and game-high 24 points, while tying his career-highs in made field goals (8) and three-pointers made (4). He also had a career-high four made free throws. It marked the second time that Everson has scored 20+ points in a single game.
CHEF (RYAN) CURRY: Curry returns for his third season with the Black Knights, currently averaging 10.2 points a game. The junior has scored in double digits for the past three games, scoring a season-high 13 points while adding a game-high six assists at Cornell. The junior earned a team-high 11 points against Harvard, adding four rebounds and three assists. In his first game back, the junior finished with 10 points and added a season-high seven assists plus six rebounds against St. Thomas.
THE SIXTH MAN: Freshman guard Jackson Furman made an immediate impact for the Black Knights, averaging 12.4 points a game off the bench while averaging 17.0 minutes a game. The plebe earned a career-high and game-high 20 points against Duke, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 55.5 percent from the three-point line. Furman earned 17 points in his first collegiate game, the most a freshman has scored in his debut in 11 seasons and the second most since 2000.
TATE ON THE BOARD: Junior forward Tate Laczkowski, the tallest player on Army's roster, serves as the biggest rebounding threat for Army. Laczkowski leads Army, averaging 5.8 rebounds a game, earning nine rebounds in his first career start versus Maritime, eight rebounds against St. Thomas and seven rebounds at Cornell, all three being team-highs. The junior earned a season-high six points in Army's loss to Harvard. In Army's first two games, he added four points and one block against Maritime and five points in a career-high 31 minutes against St. Thomas.
THE WALLET: A role player off Army's bench last season, Kevin McCarthy plays a key role, averaging 8.0 points a game. In Army's game against Maritime, the sophomore sharpshooter scored a career-high 18 points and also added career-highs in field goals made (7), three-pointers made (4), steals (3), and minutes (28). He also tied his career-high in three-pointers made against St. Thomas. He earned a career-high four assists against Duke and a season-high six rebounds at Cornell.
FOR THE YOUNG GUNS: The Black Knights' roster will look different this season after graduating an eight-person senior class. Now on the 18-man roster, there are five upperclassmen and 13 underclassmen, with nine sophomores and four freshmen. The new freshmen joining Army include Jackson Furman, Dillon Watt, Dylan Benner and Jahaan Green. Before joining the Academy, Furman, Benner and Green each played a year at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS).
HELD IN HIGH REGARD: Team captain, Jackson Mayo, was named USMA's Deputy Brigade Commander, the second-highest-ranked position in the Corps of Cadets, over the summer. The senior started the season scoring six points with two made three-pointers in Army's season-opener win against Maritime.

- Jaden Daughtry packs the paint and leads the Red Foxes in rebounds per game (5.8) and blocks per game (1.8). Justin Menard averages a team-high 4.0 assists a game and Jadin Collins-Roberts adds 2.0 steals a game.
