October 29, 2019 | Men's Soccer
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Army West Point men's soccer team closed out the non-league portion of its 2019 schedule with a 2-1 road win over Seton Hall on Tuesday night.
The Black Knights (4-6-4, 1-3-3 Patriot League) were up for the challenge against a Seton Hall (5-8-1, 2-4-1 Big East) squad that was fresh off a 1-1 draw with No. 4 St. John's. Jake Burgess and Tyler Mitchiner were the two goal scorers for the Black Knights, while Keenan O'Shea and Zac McGraw both tallied an assist.
In between the pipes, Jacob Suppiah came away with four stops, including three in the closing five minutes to help the Cadets hang on for the win.
"It was a solid team win tonight on the road," head coach Russell Payne said. "Jacob Suppiah, Jake Burgess and Matt Flynn are a few of the many guys that really stepped up tonight when the team needed them. Tonight's win was a momentum builder going into the next few days of focused preparation for our next league contest."
The Pirates outshot Army, 14-11 in the contest and held a 6-5 edge in corners.
