ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Springman made her 24th appearance and 18th collegiate start.
- Ballesteros recorded her team-best 24th hit of the season.
- Gaff notched her first hit of the season.
- Macey Newbary faced a pair of batters in relief in the seventh and fanned one.
- Army forced the Terriers to leave 16 runners stranded.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston U. got on the board in the second inning after the leadoff batter was hit by a pitch and sacrificed over before scoring on an RBI single to center. The Terriers loaded the bases up in the frame and a base on balls permitted a second run to score.
- It remained a two-run game as Boston U. left seven runners stranded in the ensuing three innings. However, an insurance score was tacked on in the sixth.
- In the seventh, the game got out of reach for the Black Knights. With the bases loaded, a single through the left side plated one before a fielder's choice drove another one in. Back-to-back costly fielding errors followed, allowing two additional runs to score to give the Terriers a 7-0 lead, which they held on to for the Patriot League series win.
UP NEXT
- Army will head to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Wednesday for a doubleheader with Marist slated to start at 2 p.m.
