Softball Set for Midweek Matchup with Marist

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team will head across the Hudson to take on Marist in a non-conference doubleheader matchup on Wednesday starting at 2 p.m. in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., at Gartland Athletic Field.

Prior to tomorrow's meeting, the Black Knights and Red Foxes have faced off 49 times with Army holding a 30-19-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Cadets claimed the previous
doubleheader road series against Marist, besting the Red Foxes 6-4 and 2-1 last season.

ARMY (12-19, 3-3 PATRIOT LEAGUE)

Army faced off against Patriot League foe Boston U. this past weekend and posted a 3-0 win in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader.
The Cadets have claimed three of the last four meetings with the Red Foxes.
This past week, Courtney Springman held opponents to a .160 average at the plate in four appearances and is now two strikeouts shy of reaching 100 for her career.
She currently leads the Patriot League in strikeouts, while carrying a league-best 1.88 ERA.

MARIST (12-18, 0-0 MAAC)

The Red Foxes are coming off a doubleheader sweep over Holy Cross last Thursday, outscoring the Crusaders 15-2.
Ali Milam and Caroline Baratta have led the charge at the plate, combining for 69 hits, 32 runs scored, 12 doubles, four home runs and 33 RBIs.
Baratta's 38 hits this season ranks first in the MAAC, while Milam's 24 RBIs are good for a league best.
Megan Beiermeister has shown to have the most success inside the circle, posting a 3.16 ERA in 15 appearances with 42 strikeouts.
