HOW IT HAPPENED
- Army put two runners on in the opening frame after a pair of two-out singles, but the Red Foxes worked out of the jam, spoiling the Black Knights' scoring opportunity.
- However, the Cadets had another chance in the second and this time capitalized. Reilly was at first with a leadoff base on balls and she made her way over to third on a McPeek double to the fence in left center. Maddie Kim then came up and drove in Reilly with a slow dribbler to the right side of the infield.
- Over the next four frames, the Red Foxes left four runners stranded on the bases with Poirier pitching well. Army was unable to add any insurance runs and entered the bottom of the seventh with a 1-0 advantage.
- In the home half of the final inning of play, a one-out double was shot to the fence in dead center. On the ensuing at-bat a costly throwing error permitted the game-tying run to cross and Springman replaced Poirier in the circle. After the second out of the inning was recorded, the Red Foxes captured the come-from-behind victory with an RBI single through the right side.

- For the second straight game, the Black Knights were first to get on the board. It happened in the second when Reilly blasted a ball over the fence in left on the ninth pitch she saw during her at-bat.
- In the third, Amelia Trotter reached on a fielder's choice after a McPeek one-out double. The Cadets then loaded the bases after a Ballesteros base hit and a Reilly walk. With two outs in the inning, Lacey Swafford drew a base on balls and Trotter was plated on the play to put Army ahead 2-0.
- The Black Knights added to their lead in the fifth. Ballesteros led off the inning with a single to shallow right and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After Reilly was hit by a pitch, Drayton had an 11-pitch at-bat that featured six foul balls and was walked to load the bases. Katie Ontiveros then stepped into the box and shot a ball to the left side of the infield and a fielding error permitted a run to cross.
- Army tacked on another insurance run in the sixth when Trotter drew a base on balls, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored after a pitch soared to the backstop.
- In the seventh, Drayton reached on a fielder's choice and after advancing to second, scored following back-to-back wild pitches. Macey Newbary, who came on in relief for Springman in the sixth, came back out to the circle and put the Red Foxes down in order to secure the win for Army.
