Black Knights Head to Canisius for Important Series

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Following two-straight series at Tate Rink, the Army West Point hockey team will test its talents in Buffalo, N.Y., with a series at Canisius.

The two squads met earlier this season at West Point, but the Golden Griffins took away both wins in that series. Army has since bounced back and is looking to capture points to climb in the Atlantic Hockey standings as the postseason approaches. The two games will be played at the Harbor Center in downtown Buffalo, both beginning at 7:35 p.m. Army boasts a record of 8-5-2 on the road this season.

- Army has captured 21 points so far this season with eight league wins and six ties.
- Michael Wilson leads the squad with 24 points on 15 goals and nine assists. He is the only player in double-digits for goals.
- He is also first on the roster in power play goals (7) and is tops in game-winning goals with four.
- Dalton MacAfee leads the team with 16 assists this year and is followed by Dominic Franco (14), Tyler Pham (11) and Wilkinson (11).

- The Golden Griffins are currently first in Atlantic Hockey standings with 28 points alongside Holy Cross.
- Canisius boasts a record of 14-12-2 overall and have a 14-8-0 mark in AHA contests.
- The Griffs are coming off a weekend split at Holy Cross where they lost 5-1 on Friday and turned around to win 5-2 on Saturday.
- Dylan McLaughlin leads the league in points per game with 1.44. He also leads the team in assists per game at 0.93.
- Nick Hutchison tops the league in game-winning goals with five. Wilson of Army follows with four.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Black Knights picked up three points during their home series against Niagara.
- On Friday, the flood gates opened for Army who won by four goals (6-2).
- John Laurito was named the AHA Rookie of the Week for his four-point effort on two goals and two assists.
- Conor Andrle posted his second three-assist game against the Purple Eagles this season, and added a goal for a career-high four points.
- Cole Bruns had an outstanding weekend making 73 saves and allowing three goals.
- On top of it all, Bruns stuffed a penalty shot on Saturday and made a last second save late in the game with his blade.
NCAA TOP-10
- Senior Cole Bruns made waves last weekend during his 41-save performance against Niagara on Saturday night.
- It was a season high and two shy of his career mark of 43. The netminder stuffed the second penalty shot of his career in the game.
- The last coming against Holy Cross during his freshman year in 2014. Bruns made a national impression for another save on the night when he stopped a Niagara scoring attempt with the blade of his left skate.
- It ranked the best in college hockey and was seventh in all of the NCAA plays on the weekend.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
- John Laurito was named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week following his four-point perfomance on Friday night.
- He tallied Army's first and last goals of the game and added two assists.
- He was the second player to post a multi-goal game this season after Michael Wilson's two earlier in the year.
- Laurito and his linemates, Conor Andrle and Trevor Fidler, totaled 10 points in the series.
