HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- Ortman capped each of Army's first two drive with field goals from 29 and 22 yards to give the home team a 6-0 edge.
- The Black Knights were finally able to break through and score a touchdown on their third drive when West hit Williamson for the nine-yard strike.
- Army's fourth drive stalled, however, as the home side settled for a 26-yard field goal to make the score 16-0 at the end of the first period.
- After a 45-yard field goal was blocked and an interception, the Cadets got back on the board when Shannon weaved his way through the Cornell defense for 20 yards on his way into the end zone with just less than six minutes before halftime.
- Another West-Williamson connection increased Army's lead to 30 points with a 13-yard score.
- Jake Gigliotti sparked the offense after the break by scoring on a 26-yard rush to make it a 37-point game.
- Collier added his first touchdown of the year with 3:23 left in the third stanza after pounding the ball in from one-yard out.
- Backup quarterback Ryan Sullivan completed Army's fourth passing touchdown of the evening on a seven-yard toss that found Charette open in the end zone.
