Jones Nets Six in Win Over Lafayette

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Attackman Nate Jones scored a career high six goals as the No. 15/16 Army West Point men's lacrosse team downed Lafayette, 14-4, on Saturday in its Patriot League opener at Michie Stadium.
Army (4-1, 1-0 Patriot League) also saw David Symmes and Ted Glesener score twice, while Austin Colvin tallied three points on three assists. Goalie AJ Barretto got the win with seven saves and only four goals allowed. Matt Isnardi came in for the final 6:38 and had three saves for the Black Knights.
Lafayette (0-5, 0-2 Patriot League) was led by Scott McCoy, who had a pair of goals, while Conor Walters and Connar Dehnert found the net as well. Jonathan Anastos did his part on the defensive side with 15 saves in the loss.

- Jones scored four of the first six goals from the Black Knights as Army jumped out to a commanding 6-0 lead in the first 19 minutes of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Knights jumped out to a big 6-0 lead in the first 24 minutes thanks to four goals from Jones, while Ted Glesener and David Symmes added goals as well.
- Lafayette got on the board with 6:49 left in the second quarter as McAvoy scored his eighth of the season.
- Grabher answered nine seconds after McAvoy with a faceoff win and scored to make it 7-1.
- Jones scored his fifth of the day with 5:21 remaining before halftime to make it 8-1, but Lafayette answered with a pair of scores.
- Symmes ended the scoring in the first half with his second of the day coming with 28 seconds left and the Black Knights had a 9-3 lead at the break.
- Army continued the momentum in the third quarter with Glesener and Matt Manown finding the net and the Black Knights were ahead 11-3 entering the final quarter.
- Gunnar Miller and Conor Glancy tallied goals early in the fourth quarter and then Jones closed out the scoring with his sixth of the day with a man-up tally with 6:38 left.

- The Black Knights hit the road next Saturday for a matchup against Lehigh.
