WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's lacrosse All-American Evan Plunkett and women's lacrosse and soccer standout Brigid Duffy were named recipients of the Army Athletic Association (AAA) Award at the 2026 Awards Convocation and Superintendent's Awards for Excellence and Achievement and Distinguished Cadet Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 21.
The AAA trophy is presented annually to the male and female cadet-athletes who have rendered the "most valuable service to intercollegiate athletics during a career as a cadet." This year marks the 120th anniversary of the AAA Award, which was first awarded to football's Horatio Hackett in 1904.
Plunkett, a senior from Roswell, Ga., capped off a historic career by securing the Lt. J.G. Donald MacLaughlin Jr. Co-Outstanding Midfielder of the Year award alongside First Team All-American honors from both the USILA and Inside Lacrosse during a remarkable 2026 campaign. A Tewaaraton Top 25 Finalist, he spearheaded the Black Knights' offense with a team-high 64 points and 40 assists while adding 24 goals to help drive Army to an 11-3 regular season record. Plunkett finishes his time at West Point as the highest-scoring midfielder in program history, ranking fifth all-time in career assists with 100 and eighth in total career scoring with 188 points.
Duffy, a senior from Queensbury, N.Y., cements her legacy as one of the most historically dominant two-sport athletes in West Point history, starring in both lacrosse and soccer. On the lacrosse field, she made history as the first-ever women's finalist for the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, given to the top college player in the country. In 2026 a campaign that saw her be named an IWLCA First-Team All-American, her 108 points on 77 goals and 31 assists led Army to its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, cementing her legacy with 370 career points, making her one of just three active players to surpass that milestone. Her multi-sport dominance was on full display in the fall, where she led the women's soccer team to a 2025 Patriot League Tournament Championship. Duffy finished her soccer career with 31 goals and 73 points, ranking in the top 10 in program history, while being named the 2025 ECAC Offensive Player of the Year and finishing as the NCAA Division I statistical champion for game-winning goals.
