Softball Travels to Quinnipiac for Doubleheader

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team will travel to Quinnipiac Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader with the Bobcats at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The teams met in Clearwater, Fla., earlier this year at the USF Under Armour Classic.

Last weekend, Army fell to Lehigh 2-1 in the conference series over the weekend, but were able to give the Mountain Hawks their first league loss of the year.

The Black Knights defeated Lehigh 1-0 in game two of the series. Army earned the only run of the game when Alee Rashenskas doubled to left center sending Kasey McCravey around the bases.

Emily Gray went 5-for-10 over the three-game series and added two RBI. Rashenskas and McCravey both batted .400. Rashenskas tallied two RBI and one run, while McCravey notched one RBI and three runs.

Army defeated Quinnipiac 7-6 over two months ago when the teams played down in Florida over spring break. The Bobcats were ahead 6-5 heading into the seventh inning, but an unearned run by Rashenskas. Maddie Kim's single then delivered Tyler McKinney home for the game winning run.

The Bobcats reside at 16-20 on the year and are 2-4 in the MAAC. They recently swept Siena by scores of 6-2 and 3-0 before falling to Marist 8-0 and 4-1.
