Softball Concludes Season with 4-2 Fall to Colgate in Patriot League Tournament

BOSTON – Army West Point softball (33-25) concluded its 2026 campaign on Friday with a 4-2 loss to the Colgate Raiders (29-25) in game five of the 2026 Patriot League Tournament.
Ashton White led the game with four hits, adding an RBI to her tally to get Army on the board.
Samantha Sims tallied two hits and added a run in the Friday afternoon matchup.
Taylor Brown, Mia Bonsignore, and Makaila Moosbrugger each added a hit for the Black Knights with a run for Tayten Moore and an RBI for Brown to add to Army's tally.
Army send three pitchers out to face the Raiders. Amanda Eaglin spend 1.2 innings in the circle where she allowed three hits and two runs before Breanna Izzo stepped into the circle for 4.1 innings.
Izzo allowed three hits and two runs before Katelyn Flanders came in for 1.0 inning where she allowed a hit.
How It Happened
Army and Colgate returned to the field in Boston after playing a game each earlier in the day on Friday to fight for the right to advance to the championship game on Saturday.
The two teams held each other scoreless in the first frame, but fresh off their game four victory, the Raiders before open the scoring with a home run in their first at-bat of the second inning.
Colgate extended its lead to two after a pitching change for the Black Knights before Army could cut off the Raiders' offense.
Mia Bonsignore got on base for Army in the bottom of the second with a double to right center, but the Black Knights remained scoreless through the end of the inning.
The score held through the next three innings as both teams held each other to a three up, three down showing and both teams left runners on base.
Colgate extended their lead in the top of the sixth inning in back-to-back at-bats to increase the gap to a 4-0 advantage.
Ashton White, Caitlyn Newburn, and Bonsignore all made it on base in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Raiders held firm to kept the Black Knights off the board.
Army broke through in the bottom of the seventh as a single through the right side from Brown sent Samantha Sims across home plate.
A single from White that tipped off the Colgate Pitcher's glove sent Tayten Moore home in Army's next at-bat to cut the difference down to two runs, but a double play from the Raiders sealed the deal.
