Bucknell Gets Past Men’s Soccer on Senior Night

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bucknell scored less than a minute into the game and never looked back, using a pair of first-half tallies to defeat the Army West Point men's soccer team, 2-1, in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday evening's Senior Night at Clinton Field.

Army finishes the regular season 9-7-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the Patriot League, while Bucknell completes the year 7-10-2 and 4-4-1.

The Black Knights enter the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will travel to No. 3 Colgate for a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.

Sebastiaan Blickmann tied Army's Rex Epps for the league lead with his 10th goal of the season, just 22 seconds into the contest, to give Bucknell a 1-0 advantage right out of the gate. Patrick Mahoney doubled the Bison lead in the 45th minute, as the visitors took a two-goal cushion into the locker room.

Freshman Peter Meyer scored his first collegiate goal for the Black Knights in the 82nd minute off an assist from senior Tanner Vosvick.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

Army falls to 20-16-0 all-time versus Bucknell.
Meyer found the back of the net for the first time in his career.
Vosvick's assist was his second of the year.
Freshman Justin Stoll started for the 13th time, while appearing in his 14th game for the Cadets.
Army honored seniors Christian Clark, Alex Jaroscak, Christian Ollen, Trase Stapley, Tanner Vosvick and Nick Williams in a Senior Night ceremony prior to kickoff.
Army's Class of 2017 has 32 wins (32-26-16), which is the most in a four-year period since the Class of 1996 team won 36 games (36-31-7) during its four years.

KEY MOMENT

Mahoney deflected a free kick sent into the 18-yard box from the left side by Andrew Leischner to double Bucknell's lead to 2-0 with only 43 seconds remaining in the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Blickmann scored 22 seconds into the game, as he finished a cross from Austin Lenart to put the Bison on top early.
Mahoney scored following a Bucknell free kick to make the score 2-0 in the 45th minute.
Meyer headed home a cross from Vosvick for his first college goal in the 82nd minute to give Army its first, and only, tally of the evening.

UP NEXT

Army will enter the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 6 seed in the six-team field. The Black Knights will face No. 3 Colgate in the league quarterfinals on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y.
