Bucknell Shoots Past Men’s Basketball

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell built a 16-point halftime lead and led by double digits throughout the second half in a 94-66 victory over the Army West Point men's basketball team on Saturday night at Sojka Pavilion.
Bucknell moved to 9-1 in the Patriot League with the result and 12-9 overall, while Army's third straight loss dropped it to 3-6 in conference play.
Nana Foulland put in 19 points to go along with nine rebounds, D.J. MacLeay scored 11 and Ryan Frazier and Chris Hass each added 10. The Bison shot 59.7 percent from the floor, connecting on 40 of 67 attempts and finished the night with 58 points in the paint.
Army was led offensively by Luke Morrison, who scored a season-high 13 points, and Kyle Wilson added 12 in the loss. The Black Knights were limited to 34.3 percent shooting and were outrebounded 44-35.
The Bison shot 67.6 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes and scored 34 of their 53 first-half points in the paint seize control by intermission.
Eight early points by Morrison backed Army's 13-6 start as the sophomore forward made a pair of threes and long two. Bucknell responded with the next nine points to go ahead 15-13, before Nathan Dodge knocked down a three to halt the run. The triple was Army's fourth in the first six minutes of play.
Leading 21-21 after Kennedy Edwards and John Azzinaro traded threes, Bucknell opened the game up with an 11-0 run to go ahead by 14. Foulland scored twice inside prior to a triple by Ryan Frazier, before Foulland added two more buckets for eight of his 14 first-half points.
The Bison led by as many as 19 before the break when Foulland's flush made it 50-31 with 3:37 to play.
Bucknell's lead stretched to 29 (72-43) five minutes into the second half and the Bison led by as many as 33 in the 94-66 triumph.
Army faces a quick turnaround for its next game as it returns home to host Navy on Monday night. Opening tip between the Service Academy rivals is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
