STORYLINES
Last time out, Bucknell built a 16-point halftime lead and led by double digits throughout the second half in a 94-66 victory over the Black Knights. Army was without leading scorer Tanner Plomb for the fifth consecutive game and leading rebounder Kevin Ferguson, who missed his fourth straight outing. Luke Morrison scored a season-high 13 points and Wilson put in 12 in the setback. Morrison also registered a career-high four steals in the loss.
Navy enters Monday's game with a 6-3 Patriot League mark, but has lost its last two contests. The Mids dropped a five-point game at home to American before falling in overtime, 87-80, on Saturday at Holy Cross.
Playing without Plomb the last five games, Army's offensive numbers have dipped. The Black Knights are shooting 40-for-130 (30.8 percent) from distance and are also averaging 65.8 points per game. Kyle Wilson is averaging 13.2 points, including a 25-point effort against Boston University, and is the only Army player averaging double digits. Nathan Dodge, John Emezie and Luke Morrison have all seen an increase in their scoring totals, with all three averaging at least five points per game.
Army has made at least nine three-pointers in 15 games and is averaging 9.9 three-point field goals per contest this season, which is 15th in the country. Kyle Wilson is 11th in the nation in threes per game with 3.38 per game. As a team, Army is shooting 36.1 percent from three-point land (207-of-574) and 38.0 percent of Army's points have come via the three-pointer (KenPom.com), which is 21st in the nation.
The Black Knights have the 20th-ranked offensive tempo in the country according to Ken Pomeroy. Army's offense has an adjusted tempo of 74.0, which is an estimate of the possessions per 40 minutes a team would have against the average D-I tempo. Army's average offensive possession length is 14.8 seconds, which is 10th in the nation.
The Black Knights continue to lead the conference in assists per game (16.8) and are 23rd nationally in that category. Senior PG Dylan Cox is second in Academy history in career assists (427) and is three shy of tying Randy Cozzens '85 for the top spot.
Cox grabbed his 500th career rebound at Bucknell and joined Cozzens as the only players in Army history to eclipse the 900-point, 500-rebound and 400-assist marks in their careers. He is the 14th Army player to reach the 500-rebound mark and enters Monday's tilt with 501 career boards.
