Major James Boggs enters his first year as an assistant coach for the development squad with the Army West Point men’s rugby program.
Major Boggs serves is the British Exchange Officer at the United States Military Academy, serving as an instructor in Military Science, the Department of Military Instruction Assistant Operations Officer and an assistant rugby coach.
MAJ Boggs has played rugby at many levels within the British Army from Battalion to Army Rugby in Cyprus. He has served in the Army for seven years and graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2009.
Commissioned as an Infantry Officer, his former assignments include light infantry Platoon Leader and Company XO and command of an army outreach program.
As a light infantry Platoon Leader, MAJ Boggs deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 during Operation HERRICK 11 and was part of the Theatre Reserve Battalion supporting Operation HERRICK 15 and 16.
Major Boggs’s military decorations include the Operational Service Medal and ISAF Medal for serve in Afghanistan.
