Captain Caleb Goble, a native of Bradford, Pa., enters his second season with the Army West Point men’s rugby program.
He attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Arabic and receiving his commission as an infantry officer in 2007. Captain Goble is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course in 2008 and was first assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Airborne Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 25th ID where he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader and Rifle Company Executive Officer. He deployed with 1-501 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2009. In 2010 he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment where he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader and Assistant S4, deploying in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Following the Maneuver Captains Career Course in May 2012, he was assigned to 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team(SBCT), 25th ID where he commanded Charlie Company and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, from September 2012 through September 2014. Captain Goble’s most recent assignment was as the Brigade Planner for 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team from September 2014 to March 2015. Captain Goble currently serves as the Assistant Course Director of Military Science 300 at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Captain Goble’s military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one silver oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with four Campaign Stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the NATO Medal. He has also earned the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Ranger Tab and the Parachutist Badge.
