Prior to West Point: Played lacrosse at Ward Melville High School for head coach Jay Negus … four-year letterwinner and contributed as a freshman on a team that was ranked No. 1 in the nation and the 2013 national champions … two-time All-Country and was named first team All-Long Island as a senior … selected as an honorable mention All-American in 2016 … second team All-Metro choice in 2016 as well … led his team to the New York State Finals in 2016 … voted most outstanding Ward Melville athlete by his classmates as a senior … played three years of football as a linebacker and wide receiver … was the team’s defensive MVP as sophomore … earned All-Division and All-League honors as a junior.
Personal: John Day is the youngest of six siblings … suffered multiple injuries in high school, but has continued to play … enjoys playing basketball.
