No. 12 Men's Lacrosse Set to Open Season Against UMass

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After an impressive 2025 campaign, Army West Point men's lacrosse begins its 2026 season at home against UMass on Saturday, January 31 at 11 a.m. ET. Due to the temperatures in the forecast for West Point on Friday, the game will take place in the Foley Athletic Center and is closed to the public.

LAST TIME OUT

The Black Knights' season came to a close in the Patriot League Semifinals when Army fell 16-13 to Colgate at Michie Stadium.
Army played a back-and-forth game with the Raiders, with the score tied at 10-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
Colgate wrestled control of the momentum away from Army early in the fourth quarter, scoring three goals in the opening three minutes.
The Black Knights continued to battle, pulling the score to within two points, but Colgate continued to respond to hold the lead through the final whistle.

A WIN WOULD

Give Army its third straight win against UMass to open the season.
Move the Black Knights' all-time series record against the Minutemen to 19-15.

NOTABLE KNIGHTS
Sean Byrne (G): Named 2026 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year with 147 saves last season and a .607 save percentage ranking second in the nation.
Brayden Fountain (A): Tied for second on the Black Knights with 35 goals and 16 assists in 2025, finishing second on the team with 51 points. Ended the 2025 season with a .443 shot percentage ranking 12^th in the nation.
Gunnar Fellows (A): Finished the 2025 season third on the team with 50 points, tying for second on the team with 35 goals and ranking fifth with 15 assists.
Team Captains: Evan Plunkett, John Sullivan, Gunnar Fellows, and Keagan Treacy have been selected as Army's captains for the 2026 season.
