Men's Basketball’s Win Streak Snapped in Home Loss Against Colgate

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (7-8, 1-1) saw its first loss in Patriot League play on Saturday, falling to the Colgate University Raiders (8-7, 2-0) inside Christl Arena, 69-76.
With the loss, Colgate improves its record to 77-65 against the Black Knights. The Black Knights also saw their four-game win streak snapped, with their last loss being against George Washington on December 2, 2025.
Ryan Curry led the way for Army for the second straight game, finishing the day with 24 points, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from the three-point line with six made three-pointers, tying his career-best. He also added a team-high seven assists and four rebounds.
Tate Laczkowski was the second and final Black Knight to finish in double-digits. The junior forward tied his career-highs of 11 points and five made field goals while adding a team-high eight rebounds and two assists.
How It Happened
The two teams were scoreless in the first 90 seconds of action, with Kevin McCarthy starting the scoring by cutting down the lane, getting the ball from Tate Laczkowski.
Tate Laczkowski then added points of his own from a pass from Ryan Curry for two, then Jacen Holloway scored on a post-up to make it a 6-6 game with 15:27 left to play.
Over the next three and a half minutes, Army gained a two-point advantage, earning a 13-11 lead with 11:30 left in the first half.
Jackson Furman came off the bench and hit a three-pointer, then Joshua Eli scored four points off a made free throw and a three-pointer to help Army gain the lead.
In the next four minutes, the momentum swung in Colgate's direction, outscoring Army, but Army kept it a thin margin, only trailing 20-22 with 7:46 left on the first half clock.
During that span, Kevin McCarthy hit his first three-pointer through an assist from Jackson Furman. Jaxson Bell added a made free throw, and Furman hit his second three-pointer of the afternoon after Jacen Holloway dished him a pass.
The Black Knights responded over the next three minutes, taking a 31-30 lead with 3:52 left on the clock. Ryan Curry got his first three-pointer of the game through a pass from Kevin McCarthy.
Jaxson Bell then added a made free throw, then after a missed free throw, the Black Knights corralled an offensive board that allowed Curry to hit his second three-pointer of the game. Jaxson Bell hit a layup, then Tate Laczkowski added one to take the 31-30 lead.
In the last three and a half minutes of the half, Colgate scored five points, and Army added three, with Joshua Eli adding two through a dunk against the Raiders and Jacen Holloway making a free throw to make it a 34-35 game heading into halftime.
To the start the second half, the Raiders outscored Army 10-6 to help give them a 45-40 lead. In that span, Tate Laczkowski added another four points and Kevin McCarthy earned two after hustling for an offensive rebound.
Then, the Black Knights went on a 10-2 run to help retake the lead at 50-47 with 15:00 left on the clock. Ryan Curry served as the spark plug for the run, scoring eight of Army's points.
The run started with Ryan Curry hitting a three-pointer. Colgate hit a layup, then Jacen Holloway added one of his own. Then, Ryan Curry hit a jumper and a three-pointer in back-to-back possessions to help give Army the lead.
The Raiders then responded with an 11-0 run, building their largest lead of the afternoon at 58-50 with 11:03 left on the clock.
Following the run, Ryan Curry went on his own personal 5-0 run to make it a 55-58 game. During this time, Curry hit his fifth three-pointer of the afternoon.
Then over the next minute, Colgate outscored Army 6-1 to make it a 56-64 deficit for Army with 8:10 left to play. Jackson Furman earned the lone point for Army off a made free throw.
Over the next few minutes, the Black Knights started to chip into Colgate's lead, making it a 63-70 with 3:28 left on the clock.
Ryan Curry added two more points to eclipse the 20-point mark, Tate Laczkowski added a three-pointer to match his career-high of 11 points, and Jaxson Bell added two from the charity stripe.
The Black Knights would not quit, and after a two-minute scoring drought, were able to make it a one-possession game at 72-69 with 1:02 left to play.
Ryan Curry hit his sixth three-pointer of the day from the logo. Colgate made a layup, then they responded with a Jaxson Bell three-pointer through a pass from Ryan Curry.
Then, in the final minute of the game, Army got multiple opportunities to tie the game, but all the shots fell short, and Colgate converted at the free throw line to help the Raiders secure the win 76-69 over the Black Knights.

- Jacen Holloway added five points, two assists, and two rebounds while contributing defensively with two turnovers forced.
- Army shot 23-of-55 from the field for 41.8 percent shooting overall.
- The Black Knights connected on 12-of-31 attempts from three-point range, finishing at 38.7 percent.
- Army went 11-of-20 from the free-throw line for 55.0 percent, leaving nine points at the stripe.
- The Black Knights outrebounded Colgate 34-33, including 12 offensive rebounds.
- Army recorded 16 assists on 23 made field goals.
- The Black Knights forced eight turnovers while committing 18 of their own.
- Army scored 22 bench points and held a 14-10 edge in second-chance points.
