WORCESTER, Mass. — Army West Point men's basketball (7-11, 1-4) wrapped up its Massachusetts road trip on Wednesday, coming up short against the Holy Cross Crusaders (8-10, 3-2), 75-82.
With the loss, the Black Knights see their first loss in the Hart Center since the 2020-21 season. Army had won four straight games in Worcester heading into Wednesday night's matchup.
Despite the loss, it was a historic night for the Black Knights and junior guard Ryan Curry. The junior finished the night with 14 points, allowing him to reach over 1,000 career points at Army.
Curry is the 38th player in program history to join the ranks of the Army Men's Basketball 1,000-point club. Before Curry, the most recent player to join the ranks was Jalen Rucker, who reached the milestone against Colgate on January 9, 2023.
Jaxson Bell ultimately led the way in scoring for Army, finishing with 20 points, the second 20+ point performance of his career. He also added eight rebounds and three assists off the bench.
Jackson Furman rounds out the top scorers for the Black Knights, adding 18 points while shooting 5-of-11 from the field and 6-of-7 at the free-throw line. Furman also recorded four assists and a career-high three steals.
Alongside the three double-digit scores, Tate Laczkowski pulled down a game-high and career-high 13 rebounds while adding four points, three assists and two blocks.
The 13 rebounds are the second-most rebounds an Army player has earned in a game this season. The most is held by Curry, who pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds at Lehigh on December 31, 2025.
How It Happened
Army West Point opened the game with strong early energy, as Jacen Holloway scored the Black Knights' first basket on a layup to give Army a 2–0 lead in the opening minute.
After trading early defensive stops, Holy Cross answered with back-to-back three-pointers to move in front, but Army responded behind Ryan Curry, who knocked down a three of his own to keep the deficit manageable.
Army continued to battle through Holy Cross' perimeter shooting, with Holloway and Curry combining for timely threes to keep the Black Knights within striking distance. Jaxson Bell provided a spark off the bench, scoring multiple baskets in the paint and finishing in transition as Army looked to counter Holy Cross' early shooting surge.
Despite Army's ability to score inside, Holy Cross began to stretch the lead midway through the half behind consistent three-point shooting, including multiple makes from Joe Nugent and Tyler Boston.
Army answered with balanced contributions, as Curry hit his second three, Jorn Everson finished at the rim, and Bell continued to attack the paint.
The Black Knights showed resilience late in the half, trimming the deficit with baskets from Bell and a three from Everson, but Holy Cross closed the period on another shooting run. Curry capped Army's first-half scoring with a three in the final 90 seconds, yet Holy Cross responded again from deep and at the rim to extend its advantage.
Army went into the locker room trailing 52–39, having scored efficiently inside but facing a Holy Cross team that capitalized from beyond the arc throughout the opening 20 minutes.
Army West Point opened the second half with defensive urgency, forcing early misses and controlling the glass as Tate Laczkowski and Jacen Holloway secured key rebounds to start the period.
The Black Knights struggled to convert early offensive possessions, but Laczkowski broke through with a layup to give Army its first points of the half and set an aggressive tone inside.
Holy Cross answered with a three-pointer, but Army continued to attack the paint, with Holloway finishing at the rim and Jackson Furman adding a layup to keep the deficit within reach.
After a brief stretch of empty possessions, Furman converted a three-point play and Bell provided energy off the bench, helping Army stay competitive despite Holy Cross' timely perimeter shooting.
Midway through the half, Army began to string together defensive stops, highlighted by blocks from Bell and Laczkowski, and capitalized in transition. Jorn Everson knocked down a three, Ryan Curry finished through contact, and Holloway scored on a strong drive as Army trimmed the margin to four points and forced a Holy Cross timeout.
The Black Knights continued to apply pressure, with Curry scoring twice at the rim, including the bucket that helped him eclipse the 1,000 career-point mark, and Bell knocking down a three to bring Army within three late in the half. Army's defensive activity created multiple steals and extra possessions, but Holy Cross responded with clutch baskets down the stretch to maintain its lead.
Army continued to fight in the final minutes, as Furman hit a late three and Bell finished through contact in the closing seconds, but Holy Cross sealed the game at the free-throw line. Army outscored Holy Cross in the paint in the second half and showed resilience on both ends, ultimately closing the game with strong effort despite falling 82–75.
