Men's Basketball Falls in Offensive Shootout at Boston University
January 10, 2026 | Men's Basketball
BOSTON — Army West Point men's basketball (7-10, 1-3) faced an offensive shootout on the road inside Case Gym, battled tough but ultimately fell to the Boston University Terriers (7-10, 2-2), 91-100.
The game marked the most points Army has scored against a Div. I opponent in a regulation game this season. The most was against Binghamton on December 23, 2025, where Army scored 95 points in the overtime win. The most points Army has earned against any opponent this season was 111 points against Gallaudet.
Ryan Curry finished the game with a team-high 24 points, leading Army's offense for the fourth-straight game. Curry reached that mark shooting 8-of-16 from the field, 4-of-8 from three-point range, and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line, while also adding eight assists and two rebounds.
With the 24 points, Curry is now 13 points away from reaching 1,000 career points during his time with the Black Knights. He will be the 38th player in Army program history to reach that mark, the last being Jalen Rucker in the 2023-24 season.
Jackson Furman scored 20 points off the bench, tying his career-high that he set against Duke on Nov. 11, 2025. Furman connected on 6-of-10 field goals and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, while contributing four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Jorn Everson and Jaxson Bell each added 13 points, while Alex Engrossed had a career day off the bench, scoring a career-high six points in 17 minutes played.
How It Happened
Army West Point opened the game with solid defensive energy, forcing a missed three on Boston University's first possession before Jorn Everson answered on the other end with a three-pointer to quickly even the score.
After Boston U briefly took the lead, the Black Knights settled in and put together an early 7–0 run, highlighted by baskets from Jackson Furman and Ryan Curry, capped by Curry's three-pointer that gave Army a 10–7 advantage near the 15-minute mark.
Boston U responded with timely shooting to regain momentum, but Army continued to answer. Everson finished a layup off a Jaxson Bell assist, and Furman converted at the rim and at the line as the Black Knights maintained a narrow edge through the middle portion of the half.
Joshua Eli and Bell provided a spark off the bench, with Eli knocking down back-to-back three-pointers during a stretch that trimmed Boston's lead to 33–30 with just over six minutes remaining.
The Terriers closed the half with a strong surge. Boston U used a combination of perimeter shooting and transition baskets to go on a late run, stretching the margin behind multiple three-pointers and finishes at the rim.
Despite another Curry three just before the break, Boston scored 18 of the final 24 points of the half to build a 51–39 advantage at intermission, forcing Army to regroup heading into the second half.
Army West Point opened the second half with renewed energy, getting an early basket from Jacen Holloway and battling on the offensive glass before Tate Laczkowski converted a tip-in to trim the deficit to 54–43 just under three minutes into the half.
Despite multiple second-chance opportunities, the Black Knights were unable to fully capitalize, and Boston University responded with a quick burst that included a Hughes three-pointer and points at the free-throw line to push the margin back to double digits.
Army continued to fight back behind its guard play and perimeter shooting. Jaxson Bell sparked a response midway through the half, scoring inside before knocking down consecutive three-pointers during a stretch that cut Boston's lead to 67–53.
Alex Engro and Jorn Everson added timely perimeter shots, while Jackson Furman consistently attacked the rim and converted at the free-throw line to keep the Black Knights within striking distance.
Each Army run was met by an answer from Boston; however, the Terriers repeatedly halted momentum with three-point shooting and transition baskets.
Still, Army showed resilience late, closing the gap with a series of baskets from Ryan Curry and Everson, including a Curry three and multiple finishes in the final minutes.
Army outscored Boston over several late stretches but was unable to overcome the early second-half surge, as Boston closed from the line to secure the win despite Army's continued push until the final horn.
