WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Rifle's Chris Jennings recently placed third in each smallbore and air rifle competition to win two bronze medals at the USA Shooting Junior Olympics, held in Colorado Springs at the Olympic Training Center.
Jennings shot an aggregate smallbore score of 1145 through two days to qualify himself for the finals which consisted of eight shooters from a pool of 68 and then shot 442.1 in the finals to take home third, only behind Kentucky's Braden Peiser and West Virginia's Griffin Lake.
In air rifle, he competed against 150 competitors with the top eight making the finals. Jennings shot a 1238.5 aggregate through two days to qualify for the finals before posting a 226.5 in the finals for another third-place finish behind Peiser and Moorehead State's Hayden Bell.
The last time an Army shooter made the finals in either discipline was in 2019, Lauren McMahan.
"I am so proud of Chris. He has been working so hard to prepare for the Junior Olympics and has been dedicated all season to his progress. To see the work pay off in his match consistency and his ability to perform under finals conditions is encouraging for next season." – Leighton Dempster
