Softball Set to Take on Rider in a Saturday Double Header

The first pitch is set for 12:00 PM and the second game will be played following the conclusion of the first.Â

QUICK HITTERS
After a Saturday washout, the Army West Point softball team experienced a mixed bag of results last Sunday, splitting their games against Morgan State (a 2-3 loss) and Wagner (a 3-0 victory) in Baltimore.
In the triumphant match against Wagner, sophomore pitcher Amanda Eaglin delivered a masterclass, throwing a complete game shutout and limiting Wagner to a mere three hits while securing five strikeouts.
C/INF Caitlyn Newburn showcased her prowess following her recent Patriot League Player of the Week recognition. Across both games, the sophomore dynamo went three-for-six, tallying three RBI, two of which were crucial in the 3-0 triumph over Wagner.
Kayla Edwards also left her mark on the weekend, swinging the bat impressively with a four-for-six performance, including two doubles.
Army currently holds the 6th position in the Patriot League standings.
The Black Knights rank third in the conference for total home runs this season, hitting a cumulative seven.
Within the Patriot League, the Black Knights stand fourth in total hits this season, accumulating 117 so far.
Caitlyn Newburn exhibits an impressive slugging percentage from the batter's box, securing the third position in the conference with an average of .634.
Kayla Edwards shines in the total hits category, sharing the second position in the conference and leading the team with 27 hits this season.
Edwards also shares the second spot in the conference for triples, tallying two this season and holding a leading hitting percentage of .382 for Army.
On the pitching front, Julia Farris impressively ranks within the top three in the Patriot League for total strikeouts with 14.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Rider enters the double header with a 5-11 record.
Most recently, the Broncs dropped a double header this past Wednesday to Creighton, with scores of 0-8 and 2-4.
Kendall Reda-Fehsal leads the hitting charge for the Broncs with 10 RBI and a home run so far this season, boasting a current batting average of 14-for-43.
The Broncs have deployed five different pitchers on the mound. so far this season.
Senior Jessie Niegocki leads in starts and strikeouts, tallying 17 strikeouts.
Pitcher Jadeyn Merrill has conceded the fewest runs, allowing only eight.
