West Point, NY – The Army West Point sprint football team opened up their season with a 47-6 victory over Mansfield.

How it Happened

Army came out hot to start the game scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter. Senior Kobe Semien caught the first Mikal Willeke touchdown pass of the year for their first score. The other two scores both came from junior running back Henry Beck as the Black Knights closed out the first quarter leading 21-0.

Manfield wouldn't get on the scoreboard until the second quarter where they scored their only touchdown of the day. They would only walk away with six points as Army blocked the extra point attempt. Shortly after, Semien again found the end zone for his second touchdown of the night as the Black Knights also tallied on a field goal to go into the half leading 31-6.

Army would close out the game strong, adding on another 16 points including a touchdown for freshman Arthur Lavalais and a safety to tack on the final two points of the game.

Army will see their first home game this season on Friday, September 29th as they take on Penn at 7:00 PM.
