No. 8 Men's Lacrosse Uses Huge Second Half to Beat Bucknell 12-7

WEST POINT, NY – The No. 8 Army West Point men's lacrosse team (8-1, 5-0 Patriot League) used a huge second half to win its eighth consecutive game in a 12-7 victory over Bucknell (2-7, 1-3 Patriot League).
In his first start, Matt Chess was outstanding in goal. He made 12 saves and only gave up two goals in the entire second half.
The first seven goals of the game were scored in alternating fashion with Bucknell never relinquishing the lead.
Paul Johnson, Reese Burek, and Dawson Clark all found the back of the net for the Black Knights.
Bucknell took the first multigoal lead of the day with 3:15 left in the first half.
Bailey O'Connor cut into the Bucknell lead two minutes later with his eighth goal of the season.
Bucknell would take a 5-4 lead into halftime.
The second half was all Army. The Black Knights opened the half scoring three straight goals to take a quick 7-5 lead. Will Coletti and Andrew Kelly scored two more goals just before the end of the quarter to take a 9-6 lead into the fourth.
Gunnar Fellows netted his first goal of the game almost immediately in the fourth. He won the faceoff and sprinted down field firing a shot into the back of the net just a mere seven seconds into the final quarter.
Cal Lambert joined the fun to make it 11-6 and Burek netted his second to close game out.
Army would hold on to its 12-7 lead to cap off their eighth consecutive victory while remaining perfect in Patriot League play.
The Black Knights hit the road next for a matchup with Colgate on April 8 at 3 p.m.
