Softball Falls to UNCG in Opening Game of Spartan Classic

GREENSBORO, NC – The Army West Point softball team (6-18) fell to UNCG (15-12) in five innings by a score of 10-2 in the opening game of the Spartan Classic.
The Spartans used two five run innings to plate all of their runs.
Army would score both of its runs on a moonshot to deep left-center field by Taylor Brown. The Pembroke Pines, Fla. native now has three homers on the year.
Breanna Izzo started strong coming out of the bullpen in the second inning, at one point retiring eight straight UNCG batters.
The Spartans plated all 10 of their runs with two outs.
The Black Knights are back in action tomorrow with two games. The first against Gardner-Webb at 11 a.m. and the second against UNCG at 4 p.m.
