Softball Splits With Gardner-Webb and UNCG

Game 1 vs. Gardner-Webb:
Two freshman propelled Army to snap its seven-game losing streak on Saturday morning behind the pitching of Breanna Izzo and the bat of Ashton White.
Army starting P Breanna Izzo (2-1) picked up her second win of the season, working a complete game with six strikeouts and zero walks. She only yielded two runs, both coming in the fourth inning.
White was 2-4 with a HR, and 4 RBIs, the most RBIs in a game this season by an Army player.
Army came out with the bats hot in the first inning, as Kayla Edwards doubled down the right field line. Freshman Taylor Brown hit an RBI ground out scoring Edwards to kick off the scoring. The following batter, Ashton White blasted a 2-run HR to left center, her second of the season as Army scored three in the inning.
In the second inning, Army picked up where they left off the first. With the bases loaded, Angelina Bebek hit a 2-run single up the middle scoring Brooke Mitchell and Lauren Little as Army extended its lead to 6-0 after two.
Army added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run single with the bases loaded by White.
Five Army batters had multi-hit games; Brook Mitchell was 2-3 with 2 runs, Kayla Edwards was 2-4 with 2 runs, Ashton White was 2-4 with a HR, 4 RBIs, and a run scored, Sophie Smith was 2-3 with a run and Lauren Little was 2-3 with a run scored.
Game 2 vs. UNCG
Army would fall in game two 9-0. UNCG would use two big innings, much like they did yesterday to seal the victory.
They opened the game with six runs in the first and then plated three in the fourth.
Army will be back in action tomorrow as they take on Gardner-Webb again at noon.
