Softball Drops both games on Friday in the Getterman Classic to Stephen F. Austin and Longwood

WACO, TEXAS. – Army West Point traveled to Waco, Texas to play in the Getterman Classic, a tournament hosted by Baylor University, competing against Baylor, Stephen F. Austin, Oklahoma, and Longwood University. Army dropped Game 1 on Friday morning, falling to Stephen F. Austin, 2-0.
GAME 1 vs. Stephen F. Austin: Stephen F. Austin pitcher Alexis Telfo (3-2) was masterful, pitching a complete game shutout, going the full 7.0 innings, yielding just three hits to Army, while striking out seven.
Stephen F. Austin struck first taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Mackenzie Bennett in the bottom of the first off Army starting pitcher Amanda Eaglin. Eaglin worked out of the early jam, stranding runners on second and third, striking out the next two hitters.
Kaci Donaldson singled to right field in the top of the second, Army's first hit of the game, but was stranded on second base.
Eaglin settled in on the mound retiring the sides in order the next two innings in the second and third.
In the top of the fourth, Army threatened to score when freshman Taylor Brown singled up the middle followed by Mia Bonsignore singling to put runners at first and second, but the Black Knights could not capitalize as Julia Farris struck out to end the frame.
Stephen F. Austin added to its lead in the fourth inning, when Gaby Garcia hit a solo home run to center field, making it a 2-0 ballgame.
In the hard-fought loss, Eaglin (0-1) worked 6.0 innings, yielding six hits, two earned runs and tallied four strikeouts.

Kaci Donaldson doubled to left, driving in Ellie Caldwell and Lauren Little would single up the middle to dive home Donaldson a batter later, to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Longwood immediately responded, scoring two in the bottom of the first by way of a Kayley Devivi double and a Lindsey Hay fielder's choice.
The Lancers struck again scoring four in the bottom of the second with Lauren Fox doubling.
Following Army's three-run first inning, Maggie Chapin entered to pitch for Er'ron Burton and stabilized the Black Knights, working 6.1 innings, giving up zero runs and only three hits.
Longwood put un a crooked number again, padding the lead with three more in the bottom of the sixth.
Army starter Alicyn Grete (1-2) only went 1.1 innings, giving up six earned runs on seven hits.
Freshman Breanna Izzo worked three innings of relief, giving up two earned on four hits.
Lancer's leadoff hitter Jaden Pone went 4-4 with 2 R and an RBI.
Army's Lauren Little went 2-4 with an RBI.
Kaci Donaldson was 1-3 with a 2B, RBI and R.
