WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point hockey (1-6-1, 0-3-0 AHA) matched up with Lindenwood (3-8) for the first time and suffered a 2-1 defeat at Tate Rink to the Lions on Friday night. Â
A true goaltenders battle across the final two periods, Gavin Abric made 37 saves for Army while Trent Burnham controlled the game with 45 saves for Lindenwood. Â
The Black Knights were able to score first for the second game in a row, after killing off an early penalty. Brett Abdelnour and Max Itagaki flew down the ice on the break, with Abdelnour giving to Itagaki before the favor was returned and Abdelnour registered his third goal of the season to put Army ahead.Â
Army was unable to succesfully kill off a third penalty in the first period, with a goal in the final minute from Caleb Price drawing the score even through twenty minutes. Army came out firing in the second period, with a season-high 25 attempts on net in the frame, highlighted by the back-to-back power plays to end the period in which Burnham was up to the task to keep Army at bay.Â

Lindenwood pulled ahead with 11:28 remaining in the game, with Army going shorthanded again shortly after. Michael Sacco nearly scored his third shorthanded goal of the season, before Burnham made a highlight-reel save on a chance in front from Andrew Garby that would've tied the game.Â
