GLEN COVE, N.Y. – The Army West Point golf team finished a 36-hole first day of the Nassau Invitational on Monday and is in second place.

The Black Knights currently sit two strokes behind the leaders from St. John's after a team score of 582 (+22) after two rounds. Army was on top of the team leaderboard by three strokes following the open 18 holes.

Tyler Gerbavsits of the Red Storm leads the individual leaderboard at even par, while Army team captain Dragon Theam and Dino Capazario are tied for second at 2-over.

TOURNAMENT NOTES:

Theam had back-to-back rounds of 1-over par to slide into second place.
He had four birdies during the two rounds and remained consistent throughout.
John Heckel Jr. was tied for the lead after the opening 18 by shooting an even par 70.
He climbed into the tie after round one with two birdies in his final two holes and finished 4-over in his second round of the day.
Marshall Daniel had an opening round of 3-over, while Joshua Kim improved in his second round by going 2-over par and sits 14th on the leaderboard at 7-over.
Gary Bullard, who is playing as an individual, is tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard with a pair of 3-over rounds.
Bullard slid up three spots after round two.

The Black Knights are back on the course on Tuesday morning with the team teeing off at 9:50 a.m.
