Army Set for Road Game at Ball State

WEST POINT, N.Y. – For the first time since week one, the Army West Point football team will hit the road as the Black Knights are slated to take on Ball State on Saturday, Oct. 2. The game against the Cardinals is set for a 5 p.m. start in Muncie, Ind. and will be streamed on ESPN+. Â

The action between the Black Knights (4-0) and the Cardinals (1-3) can additionally be found across 25 radio stations in nine different states via the Army Sports Network. Additionally, the call can be heard for free via the Varsity Network app and through the in-venue feed for fans in attendance.

Setting the Scene
- The Cadets are coming off a three-game home stand that saw the team extend its winning streak at Michie Stadium to 13 games. The streak dates back to the 2019 season, as Army went 8-0 on Blaik Field last year.
- Army is 4-0 for the first time since 1996. That season's squad posted a dominant 9-0 mark.
- The matchup against the Cardinals will begin a two-game road swing for the Cadets, who are set to face off against Wisconsin (Oct. 16) after their bye week.
- The Black Knights will look to continue their streak of scoring in the first quarter, having earned an overall advantage of 35-0 in the opening 15 minutes of this season's contests.Â
Series History
- Saturday's game will be the seventh all-time between Army and Ball State.
- The winner of the contest will claim the series between the two teams, as it is currently tied at 3-3.
- In the 22-year history between the programs, no side has ever claimed back-to-back wins. An Army win would make the Cadets first to do so, having won the 2014 meeting 33-24.
- The Cadets are 0-2 at Scheumann Stadium and will be looking for their first win in Muncie.

- Heading into week five, Army has numerous cadet-athletes that rank within the nation's top-15 in various statistical categories.
- With 5.5 sacks this season, Andre Carter II is tied for second in the nation, behind only Jermaine Johnson from FSU's 6.0. His five solo stops are the most of any other player in FBS football.
- Christian Anderson also ranks among the nation's leaders, checking in at 11th in rush yards per carry with an average of 7.43. He recently posted the sixth-most rushing yards in the program's single-game history when he recorded 236 against Miami Ohio.
- Marquel Broughton has highlighted the team's defensive efforts with two interceptions, the 13th-most in the country.
Scouting the Cardinals
- Ball State will enter Saturday night's tilt looking to snap a three-game losing streak.
- After opening up the season with a 31-21 victory over Western Illinois, the Cardinals dropped games to Penn State (13-44), Wyoming (12-45) and Toledo (12-22).
- Since the game against Western Illinois, the team has recorded all three of its touchdowns on the ground.
- Fifth-year senior Justin Hall highlighted the team's most recent outing, as he broke the program's career receiving record. The wide receiver has 3,061 to his name and is the nation's active career leader in receptions (281). Additionally, he is the FBS leader with 47-consecutive games with a reception.
