Turner Named PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Senior Nick Turner was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year, it was announced by the league on Thursday.

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

The Patriot League Men's and Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League Team honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The awards are nominated and voted on by the Patriot League golf sports information directors.

Turner, a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection, tied for first at the 2019 Patriot League Men's Golf Championship at 2-under par, before bowing out in a three-way playoff. He helped Army West Point to the program's 12th team title.
The electrical engineering major carries a 3.768 cumulative GPA and earns his second-consecutive scholar-athlete of the year and academic all-League honor.

Turner and his teammates are headed for the Austin Regional in the NCAA Tournament and will be competing on May 13-15 at the University of Texas Golf Club.
