Black Knights Suffer Setback to Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –The #16/17 Army West Point men's lacrosse team suffered an 11-8 setback to Lehigh on the road Saturday afternoon.
It was the Black Knights' first deficit in Patriot League play this season and first loss to a non-ranked opponent.
Sean O'Brien was the only Cadet to have multiple goals in the game, while also registering an assist for a career-high three points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the sixth game in a row, the Black Knights scored the first goal of the game.
- Nicholas Garofano posted the first of the game, but three-straight by the Mountain Hawks gave Lehigh a 3-1 lead.
- The Black Knights had an excellent second quarter, outscoring the Mountain Hawks 3-1.
- Liam Davenport recorded an unassisted score with 9:43 on the clock.
- Matt Manown then beat his defender on a driving goal to cut Lehigh's lead to 4-3.
- Sean O'Brien tied the game with four minutes remaining in the first half off a pass from Alex Alacqua.
- The Mountain Hawks reclaimed the lead however with a goal with three seconds to go in the half.
- Nichtern assisted O'Brien just 30 seconds into the second half, but Lehigh's 4-0 run pushed the team ahead of the Black Knights 9-5.
- Nichtern opened the scoring in the fourth diving across the crease.
- Lehigh scored a minute later to give it a 10-6 advantage.
- Both of Army's next two goals were assisted as Garofano found Miles Silve and O'Brien connected with Nate Jones.
- Lehigh capped the scoring efforts with two minutes remaining to post the final score at 11-8.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- O'Brien paced Army's offense with a career-high three points.
- The junior posted two goals and added an assist.
- Garofano and Nichtern each notched two points in the game.
- Manown, Jones, Davenport, Alacqua and Silva all registered one point apiece today.
- Johnny Surdick and Tom Rigney five ground balls each.
- Surdick added a caused turnover in the effort.
- Marcus Hudgins posted a career-high three caused turnovers today to lead Army.
- He also had two ground balls.
- Evan Condon and Anthony George returned to the lineup and picked up three ground balls apiece.
- AJ Barretto turned aside 15 shots today and boasted a .577 save percentage.

- The Black Knights continue their road quest and head to Binghamton for a 4 p.m. matchup on Tuesday.
