Game Notes: Army Begins Two-Game Road Trip at WKU

WEST POINT, N.Y. -Â The Black Knights begin a two-game road trip at Western Kentucky on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.Â
Army is coming off a 42-33 loss to Tulane on Oct. 5.Â
The contest will air live on Stadium with Chris Vosters and Jordan Palmer on the call. The game can also be heard on the Army Sports Network through the TuneIn app or goarmywestpoint.com.

• The Black Knights begin a two-game road slate with a matchup with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
• Army is coming off a 42-33 setback to the Tulane Green Wave. It snapped a 15-game home winning streak for the Black Knights. Â

THE OPENING KICKOFF
• Army's defense has 12 takeaways (8th nationally) through its first five games this season, which includes eight fumble recoveries (2nd).Â
• On top of the 12 takeaways, West Point is 25th nationally in passing defense (186.8), 26th in first downs allowed (86), 28th in red zone defense (.750), 39th in scoring (21.4) and 41st in total defense (335.2).Â
• Senior defensive back Elijah Riley has had a hand in four takeaways this season (three forced fumbles and an interception). His three forced fumbles are fourth nationally.
• Senior linebacker Cole Christiansen has also forced two fumbles (13th nationally). He paces West Point in tackles (49, 24th nationally), including 31 solo stops (16th).Â
• Senior Ryan Velez and sophomore Malkelm Morrison each set career-bests in tackles vs. Tulane. Velez recorded his first career sack and had 12 tackles (7 solo) while adding 1.5 TFL. Morrison tallied 10 tackles (7 solo) to go along with a TFL.Â
• Army's offense is second in the country in yards per completion (21.4), eighth in rushing (273.4), 16th in fourth down conversions (.750) and 27th in time of possession (32:06).Â
• Senior quarterback Kelvin Hopkins Jr. is 27th nationally with five rushing scores. He is also in the top 50 nationally in total TDs.Â
• In the Tulane contest, Hopkins recorded two rushing scores, marking his sixth career multi-rushing TD game. He paced West Point with 132 rushing yards on 24 attempts (5.5 average), his fifth career 100-yard rushing game.
• Hopkins finished with nine completions, one shy of his career-high, to go along with 170 passing yards and a touchdown to Camden Harrison. It was his ninth career TD pass.
• Harrison set career-bests in receptions (5) and yards (103) against the Green Wave. He became the first Army player to tally 100-plus yards receiving since Edgar Poe (122) did at Wake Forest on Oct. 29, 2015.
ARMY-WKU HISTORYÂ
• This will be the third ever meeting between Army and WKU, with the Hilltoppers leading the series, 2-0.Â
• The two teams last met on Nov. 15, 2014 in Bowling Green, with WKU picking up a 52-24 victory. The other contest came in West Point on Nov. 9, 2013, with the Hilltoppers earning a four-point win, 21-17.
