Raiders Top Army on the Road

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's lacrosse team fell to Colgate, 8-6, on Saturday. The Black Knights took a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, but six-straight goals by the Raiders would put the game out of reach for the Cadets.
Nate Jones scored a natural hat trick with three goals in a row during the first-quarter run.

Nate Jones scored a natural hat trick with three goals in a row during the first-quarter run.
HIGHLIGHTS & GAME NOTES
- Today's hat trick by Jones was the sixth of his career and third of the 2018 season.
- He was one of three Black Knights to score on the day.
- The junior increased his goal streak to eight and now boasts 96 points in his career.
- Conor Glancy returned to Army's lineup with two goals and an assist and has now notched a goal in all of his appearances on the year.
- The senior co-captain also added a team-leading five groundballs.
- The Black Knights' defense was led by Johnny Surdick who garnered two caused turnovers and picked up three groundballs.
- Jon LaMonica tallied a caused turnover and four groundballs.
- Ted Glesener scored for Army in the game to mark his eighth of the year.
- Two of Army's assists came from Connor DeWitt, while Surdick tallied another.
- AJ Barretto finished the game with eight saves.
TURNING POINT
- The Raiders' 6-1 run to close-out the game stunted Army.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colgate got on the board first with an unassisted goal 56 seconds in.
- The Black Knights then went on a four-goal run to take their first lead of the game.
- Glancy made his return to play with a goal and assist in the stretch.
- Jones scored three in a row for a natural hat trick pushing Army ahead 4-1.
- The first of the three goals was assisted by DeWitt and was scored with barely any angle.
- Surdick then picked up the ball on the following faceoff and dishing it off to Jones for the score 18 seconds later.
- Glancy assisted on Jones' final goal of the stretch.
- The Raiders closed out the first quarter with their second goal of the game.
- Glesener posted the Black Knights' lone goal of the second quarter at the 12:04 mark off an assist by DeWitt.
- Colgate would score the following three goals to tie the game at 5-5 at half, and then three more to continue onto a 6-0 run.
- The first penalty of the game came a 9:37 of the fourth quarter when Colgate was whistled offsides.
- Army netted the lone goal of the quarter when Glancy rolled the crease to beat Connor Mullen with 35 seconds left.
- The Cadets won the ensuing faceoff, but a high pass prevented the continued comeback.

- Army hosts Bucknell on March 31 at Michie Stadium. The game will begin at 12 p.m.
