- Heading into the fourth frame, the Loyola Chicago lead was up to nine, 11-2, after scoring five additional runs on six hits in the third.
- The Black Knights plated a pair of runs in the fourth with no outs before Reilly shot an RBI double into left center, trimming the Rambler lead to six.
- Following one additional run in the fifth, Loyola Chicago led 12-5 entering the sixth and put the game away with a three-run homer to secure the victory.
