Black Knights Florida Bound for Spring Break Trip

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team will make its annual spring break trip to Florida this weekend and stay in the Sunshine State for nine days to compete at the USF Under Armour Showcase from March 9-17.

ARMY (2-8)
• Army played to a 1-4 mark three weekends ago at the Mary Nutter Classic.
• Kristen McPeek has reached base safely in nine of the team's first 10 games.
• Madison Cole posted Army's first four-hit game of the season in the win over Sacramento State, raising her season average to .333.
• Emily Ballesteros has picked up eight hits on the season, while driving in four with a .308 batting average.
• Four different Cadets have gotten the starting nod in the circle this season. Courtney Springman has seen the most work, pitching in 27.2 innings.
• Army holds the all-time series lead over George Mason, 5-1, but has split with Monmouth in six meetings. The Orange hold a 2-0 edge over Army in the all-time series.
VILLANOVA (3-7)
• The Wildcats have dropped three straight outings and are being outscored 17-8 over that stretch.
• With a .382 batting average and .529 slugging percentage, Brittany Husk has been Villanova's top hitter through the first 10 games. She has picked up 13 hits, four RBIs with a pair of doubles.
• Anissa Amarillas is a dual-threat player for the Wildcats. In the circle, she carries a 3.22 ERA in 41.1 innings pitched, while at the plate she has blasted a team-best four homers, driven in seven runs and notched 10 hits. Â
SOUTH FLORIDA (12-12)
• The Bulls are riding a five-game winning streak into the USF Under Armour Showcase after picking up wins over Wisconsin, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Penn and Seton Hall. South Florida has put up 30 runs during its hot stretch.
• Three batters have eclipsed 20 hits on the season, including Cassidy Boyle, who has a team-best 26 with nine doubles, three homers and 11 RBIs with a .394 average.
• In over 55 innings of work, Georgina Corrick boasts a 2.01 ERA with 66 strikeouts. She has held opposing batters to a .226 average.

LOYOLA-CHICAGO (8-8)
• The Ramblers have been down in Florida since March 2 and have picked up three wins in seven opportunities with five of those games being decided by two runs or fewer.
• Shannon McGee has tallied a team-high 19 hits in 16 games, with seven RBIs and nine runs scored. She has posted a .420 slugging and .475 on-base percentage.
• With eight complete games in nine starts, Kiley Jones has a 7-2 record and a 1.61 ERA. Opposing hitters are being held to a .215 average at the plate, while striking out 37 times.
SAINT JOSEPH'S (6-4)
• The Hawks are winners of four straight and five of their last six. During that span, they have not been held to fewer than five runs in a game.
• Taryn Grober leads the team at the plate with a 13 hits for a .419 average and .548 slugging percentage.
• Three different pitchers have seen work, with Madison Clarke holding the lowest ERA at 2.33 in five appearances.
BETHUNE-COOKMAN (9-13)
• The Wildcats are coming off back-to-back home wins against Holy Cross.
• Ryan Jackson has been dialed in at the plate, holding a team-best .348 average with 24 hits, seven doubles, six home runs, two triples, 19 runs scored and 16 RBIs.
• In 47 innings of work, Alexis Bermudez carries a 2.83 ERA with a 3-4 record in the circle.
MANHATTAN (8-6)
• The Jaspers have claimed four consecutive victories, scoring 31 runs over that stretch.
• With nine hits and a .450 average, Briana Matazinski has been the team's top hitter. She has also racked up three doubles and seven RBIs to go with a .750 slugging and .522 on-base percentage.
• She also is a solid pitcher in the circle, twirling 14.2 innings for Manhattan while posting a 3.07 ERA in three starts.
QUINNIPIAC (1-7)
• The Bobcats have struggled recently, dropping five straight games heading into the weekend.
• Miranda Magana has notched a team-best 11 hits with four doubles, seven RBIs and five runs scored, while holding a .367 average at the plate.
• In four starts, Casey Herzog has found success despite her 1-4 record. She has tossed 35.1 innings, while compiling a 1.98 ERA.
BUTLER (4-10)
• Butler enters the weekend with losses in three of its last four outings.
• At the plate, the Bulldogs have struggled, but Jenna Foreman's 21 hits are the most on the team. She holds a .412 average and .423 on-base percentage.
• Alyssa Graves has performed well on the mound for Butler, posting a 1.51 ERA in seven starts. She has fanned 39 batters in 41.2 innings of work.

• The Bulls have been in Florida since March 2 and have gone 2-3 in their last five, picking up wins over Incarnate Word and Alabama St.
