Cadets Claim Three Events at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON – With seven top-three finishes, the Army West Point men's swimming and diving team concluded the opening day of the Terrier Invitational with the second-most points.
Through one day of competition, Boston College holds the lead with 346 points, but the Black Knights are right behind with 328. Boston U. posted 215 points in its home pool, while Bridgeport (134) and UMass (130) rounded out the top five.

"We had a great day at the Terrier Invitational," head coach Mickey Wender said. "We improved a lot from our performance this morning and will continue that going into tomorrow's events. We're racing hard and learning a lot."

ARMY NOTABLES
- Army got off to a strong start once Josh Zock, Hogan Harper, Nathan Hein and Billy Webber topped the competition in the 200 free relay at 1:22.30.
- In the 500 free, Tom Ottman was the top finisher for the Black Knights and he placed fifth with a time of 4:34.58. Kevin Lin won the B-Final at 4:34.78.
- The Cadets picked up a lot of points in the 200 IM once Johnny Ellery (1:52.64), Brian McKenrick (1:52.68) and Jay Yang (1:53.08) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
- Zock highlighted the 50 free after he touched the wall at 20.63 for a first-place showing. He was followed by Hein in second at 20.71, while Harper took sixth with a time of 21.05.
- On the 1-meter board, it was Daniel Alaimo posting a meet-best score 292.60, over 25 points higher than the second-place finisher. Andrew Mizell took third with a score of 262.50, while Kyle Lipton placed fourth with a total of 241.05.
- The opening day concluded with McKenrick, Ty Dang, Ellery and Kevin Doo finishing second in the 400 medley relay after posting a time of 3:20.54.
