Swimming & Diving Prepares for 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The field is set and Army West Point men's swimming & diving joins the nation's top swimming & diving programs for the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Georgia Tech at the McAuley Aquatic Center this week. The Black Knights are set to send Johnny Crush and Kohen Rankin to compete in individual events along with their relay contingent of Thomas Hadji, Daniel Verdolaga, Ben Vorthman, Max Jordan, and Joey Kling.
The Black Knights finished tied for 30th at the 2025 Men's National Championship in Federal Way, Wash. last season. Army earned two All-American honors as Johnny Crush finished eighth overall in the 100 back to earn First Team honors while the quartet of Crush, Rankin, Verdolaga, and Vorthmann earned Second Team honors in the 200 medley relay.
Kohen Rankin and Johnny Crush qualified as individuals for the third and second consecutive seasons, respectively. Army's men also earned a spot in three different relays at the national meet this season – the 200 medley relay, the 400 medley relay, and the 400 free relay.
On the first day of action, the Black Knights will compete in the 200 medley relay on Wednesday, March 25 (11:05 a.m. preliminaries, 6:32 p.m. finals) after Johnny Crush, Kohen Rankin, Daniel Verdolaga, and Ben Vorthmann qualified with a 1:22.95 at the Army-Navy Star Meet in December.
Rankin returns to the water on Thursday, March 26th to compete in the 100 breaststroke event. The preliminary heats are set for 10:51 a.m. ET with the finals to follow at 7:03 p.m. ET.
The Black Knights have a packed schedule on Friday, March 27th as they take on the 50 freestyle (11:02 a.m. preliminaries, 7:04 p.m. finals), 100 backstroke (10 a.m. preliminaries, 6:06 p.m. finals), 200 breaststroke (10:14 a.m. preliminaries, 6:15 p.m. finals), and 400 medley relay (11:30 a.m. preliminaries, 7:39 p.m. finals).
Crush will swim both the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke while Rankin takes on the 200 breaststroke. The pair will also compete in the 400 medley relay after Crush, Relay, Verdolaga, and Thomas Hadji clocked a 3:04.10 at the Army Invite to qualify for the event.
The 100 backstroke opens the third day of the meet at 10 a.m. ET (6:06 p.m. finals) with the 200 breast to follow at 10:14 a.m. (6:15 p.m. finals). The 50 free preliminaries begin at 11:02 a.m. (7:04 p.m. finals) with the 400 medley relay wrapping up Army's events that day at 11:30 a.m. for the preliminaries with the finals to follow at 7:39 p.m. ET.
Army competes in two events on the final day of competition as Crush takes on the 100 freestyle (10:20 a.m. preliminaries, 6:16 p.m. finals) and the quartet of Vorthmann, Hadji, Rankin, and Crush represent the Black Knights in the 400 freestyle relay (11:24 a.m. preliminaries, 7:36 p.m. finals) on Saturday, March 28th.
