USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – A single first-half goal proved to be enough as Air Force was able to edge the Army West Point men's soccer team, 1-0, on Saturday night.
With the loss, Army falls to 3-2 on the year, while Air Force improves to 4-1.
"We showed a tremendous amount of fight tonight," said head coach Russell Payne. "We let ourselves down though with our finishing and we had our chances to win the game. Air Force is a good team and sometimes all it takes is one goal to win a game."

HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- For the first time this season, Army allowed a goal in the opening half.
- Army was held scoreless for the first time since a 1-0 loss to Boston U. on Oct. 29, 2016.
- Dating back to last season, the Black Knights tallied their 12th consecutive game with double-digit shots.
- Sophomore Rex Epps led the team in shots (4) against the Falcons.
- Epps has led Army or has been tied for the lead in shots in four of five outings this year.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Stoll made two saves and warded off several Falcon attempts to add an insurance goal late in the contest.
- In the 35th minute, Luis Martinez sent a free kick into the box from the left side and Tucker Bone headed it into the back of the net to put Air Force up 1-0.
- Army will stay on the road and matchup with Sienna on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. tilt in Loudonville, N.Y.
