ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MATCH NOTES
- Carolyn Bockrath led the Black Knights with 13 kills and Courtney Horace followed with 12.
- Amber Clay converted eight kills and added 14 digs, while Vanessa Wesley notched seven kills and 3.5 blocks for 10.5 points.
- Ana Oglivie recorded 14 digs in the match and added a service ace. Ellie Petersen also had double-digit digs with 10.
- Haven Bethune boasted 35 assists on the night and added six digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE (25-18 Army)
- Army led the entirety of the set, but there were four tie scores.
- The Black Knights went on a 7-2 run to force a Greyhounds timeout as Army claimed a 16-10 lead.
- Horace led the Black Knights in the first set with five points off a service ace and four kills.
- Wesley and Clay each posted three kills in the set.
SET TWO (25-19 Loyola)
- The Greyhounds started off strong in the set and charged out to a 14-9 lead.
- Army was held to a .125 hitting percentage, while Loyola hit .200 and recorded 16 kills compared to the Cadets' 11.
- Horace and Bockrath each posted three kills in the set.
SET THREE (25-23 LOYOLA)
- The set was another back-and-forth battle featuring two lead changes and five tie set scores.
- Despite hitting .231 to Loyola's .213, the Black Knights committed seven errors to the Greyhounds' four.
- Bockrath came in strong off the bench for the Cadets and converted five kills.
- Wesley kept Army in the set with back-to-back blocks, but Loyola took it 25-13.
SET FOUR (25-18 LOYOLA)
- The Greyhounds led for a majority of the final set and pulled away to a 17-14 lead before finishing it out for the match win.
- Errors plagued the Black Knights' offense as they hit .070 in the final stanza.
- Horace returned to the match and notched a team-high three kills in the set.
UP NEXT
- Army will host American Saturday night at 8:30 p.m.
