COACH'S COMMENTS
- "We ran well today," said Smith. "Our goals in an early season meet such as this are to work within ourselves and see what our fitness level looks like coming out of the preseason and summer training block. Our top women ran as we expected them to run. Sam Coletti and Bethany Nunnery are strong runners and are proven competitors. They executed well today and ran a disciplined race finishing 1-2. Hannah Deines was a nice surprise for us today. She has a lot of ability and we saw what determination and focus can equal when combined with talent. She has really improved from where she was a year ago. Our freshmen all looked good out there, but I thought Mika and Lauren really stood out. They are only a few weeks removed from BEAST and competed pretty well given their fitness level. All-in-all, I was pleased with how we performed and like our competitive balance."
