Army Prepares for Midweek Tilt with Blue Devils

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's lacrosse team will head to New Britain, Conn., Wednesday for a midweek tilt against Central Connecticut State at 1 p.m. This will be the first non-Saturday game for the Black Knights this season.

SCOUTING ARMY
- The Black Knights are now 2-1 on the year with wins over Marist (13-12) and Manhattan (11-6) and a 12-11 setback to St. Bonaventure.
- Army is led offensively by attacker Rachel Hornick, who ranks second in the Patriot League with a 4.25 goals per game average. Erin Jollota is second in the league in assists per game at 2.75.
- On the draw, Amy Johnston has been a standout with 14 draw controls. The junior is slated third in the league with an average of 5.25 draws per game.
- In net, Maddie Burns has picked up two wins as a freshman and has amassed 21 saves for a .488 saves percentage to rank her fourth in the Patriot League.
- Shelby Lindsay had a standout game against St. Bonaventure last weekend with a career-high five caused turnovers and five ground balls. Manuela Cortes tallied a career-high five goals against the Bonnies to lead both sides on the stat sheet.
- As a team, Army ranks fourth in the league with 12.00 goals per game and third in assists (7.00) and points (19.00).
SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE
- The Blue Devils enter the weekend with an 0-2 mark with losses to Quinnipiac (10-9) and Iona (15-6).
- Central Connecticut State is led by rookie attacker Megan Szawlowski who averages 3.0 goals per game. She also has two ground balls on the year and seven draw controls.
- Marissa Soto and Kylie Sullivan have also had a hand in the offensive efforts by the Blue Devils with Soto recording four goals and Sullivan adding three goals and seven assists.
- Courtney McPartland anchors the defense for Central Connecticut State and has amassed six caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
- Jackie Branthover has played goalie for all 120 minutes for the Blue Devils this season and has a .490 save percentage and 12.50 goals against average.
- This will be the second all-time meeting between Army and Central Connecticut State as the two squads faced each other in 2016.
- The Black Knights came away with the 8-7 victory to mark their first in program history.
