Women’s Lacrosse Named IWLCA Northeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year
June 17, 2026 | Women's Lacrosse
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Army West Point women's lacrosse coaching staff was named the IWLCA Northeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year as announced by the IWLCA on Wednesday afternoon. For the Black Knights, this marks the first time in program history earning an IWLCA accolade related to the coaching staff.
The Army West Point women's lacrosse coaching staff delivered a transformational 2026 season defined by historic milestones, national relevance, and the strongest competitive profile in program history. Under the leadership of Noto Family Head Coach Michelle Tumolo, the Black Knights captured their first Patriot League Regular Season Championship, finished with a 15–5 overall record and an 8–1 conference record, and rose as high as No. 13 nationally in both the USA Lacrosse and IWLCA polls. In one of the most significant accomplishments in modern Patriot League history, Army ended Loyola Maryland's unprecedented 95–0 undefeated regular-season conference streak, a run that had remained unbroken since the Greyhounds joined the league in 2014. This victory, combined with a top five national win over No. 5/7 Yale, established Army as one of the nation's most ascendant and competitive programs.
The staff guided the program to its first NCAA Tournament victory with a commanding 20–8 win over Fairfield and advanced to the NCAA Second Round, marking another historic milestone in the program's rapid rise. The staff's impact is equally evident in the extraordinary individual achievements of the 2026 roster. Army produced a program-record seven All-Patriot League selections, three All-Region honorees, multiple USA Lacrosse All-Americans, and two IWLCA First Team All-Americans. Most notably, Brigid Duffy became the program's first-ever Tewaaraton Finalist and the first Army West Point Honda Award Finalist since 1989–90, marking one of the most significant national honors earned by any female cadet-athlete in more than three decades.
