Army Drops Dual Meet to Columbia

NEW YORK – The Army West Point men's swimming and diving team fell to Columbia, 168-129, in a dual meet on Friday afternoon at Uris Pool.

With the loss, the Black Knights dropped to 1-1 in dual meets on the season, while the Lions improved to 1-0 after winning their first meet of the 2017-18 campaign.

ARMY NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS

The Black Knights claimed five events over the Lions.
In the 100 free, Evin Rude (45.81) and Kevin Doo (46.83) finished first and second, respectively.
Doo would later go on to capture the 100 fly at 49.08.
Josh Sembrano (1:51.21) and Peter Mikheyev (1:55.67) finished in the top-two spots in the 200 back.
Ty Dang scored for Army in the 200 breast by winning the event with a time of 2:05.56.
The Cadet group of Rude, Johnny Ellery, Nathan Hein and Doo bested the competition in the 400 free relay by posting a time of 3:06.11.

"It was a tough day," head coach Mickey Wender said. "We lost against a good team and my hat goes off to coach Bolster and his team. WE learned a lot and will be better in a week against UConn."

The Black Knights will continue their road trip when they head to Stoors, Conn., next Friday for a dual meet with UConn slated for 5 p.m.
