Black Knights Set for Patriot League Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point volleyball team is set for postseason play down in Washington, D.C. The third-seeded Black Knights will first face Navy, who is the second seed on Saturday. The winner of that match will then take on either No. 1 American or No. 4 Lehigh.

No. 3 ARMY (18-11, 11-5 Patriot League)
- This is the Cadets' 19th straight appearance in the Patriot League postseason as Army has made it every season since 1999.
- Earlier this week Carolyn Bockrath, Vanessa Wesley and Amber Clay earned All-Patriot League honors.
- The Black Knights have four players averaging over 2.50 kills per set. Bockrath leads the way with 3.48, followed by Clay (3.13), Courtney Horace (2.60) and Wesley (2.57).
- Army leads the league in assists per set (13.63) and kills per set (14.48).
- Saturday's game will begin at 5 p.m. and it will be the Black Knights and Mids third meeting this season.

No. 2 NAVY (22-7, 12-4 Patriot League)
- Navy's No. 2 seed in the tournament is the highest for the Mids since also being the second seed in the 2005 tournament.
- The Mids placed solo second in the league this year, which is the best since sharing second place in 2005 and sharing the league's regular season title in 1999
- Army and Navy have met twice before in the Patriot League Tournament. The Black Knights defeated the Mids in both prior meetings which took place in the second round of the 1991 event and in the semifinal round of the 2005 tournament.
- Patricia Mattingly was named the Patriot League Setter of the Year and Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year this week. She averages 9.56 assists per set and 0.24 service aces per set.

No. 1 AMERICAN (24-7, 15-1 Patriot League)
- The Eagles will host the Patriot League Tournament as the top seed.
- American has suffered just one league loss this season and have dropped just 10 sets on the year.
- Aleksandra Kazala was honored as the Patriot League's Player of the Year for the second straight season this week, while Kristen Largay was announced as the Libero of the Year.
No. 4 LEHIGH (18-12, 9-7 Patriot League)
- Lehigh (18-12, 9-7) will be making its sixth postseason appearance in the last seven years and will be looking to return to the championship match for the second time in four years.
- Ana Spangenberg led Lehigh with 10 of the team's 24 kills on the night as the only player to reach double-figures. She also paced the team with nine digs.
