Army Closes Windon Memorial Classic Tied for 10th

Final Results
SKOKIE, Ill. – The Army West Point men's golf team placed tied for 10th at the Windon Memorial Classic on Monday.
Army registered 282-288-291—861 (+21) with its best score of the tournament coming in the first round. Penn State and host Northwestern finished co-champions with a five-under par, while Indiana (third, -1), Iowa State (fourth, +5) and Marquette and Miami (tied for fifth, +8) closed out the top five.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• Senior Dean Sakata had his best round of the tournament on the final day and finished Army's best golfer with scores of 72-72-68—212 (+2). He ended tied with Northwestern's Sam Triplett, Penn State's Cole Miller and Marquette's Matt Murlick for the 17th spot.
• Nick Turner followed closely behind at 69-72-76—217 (+7) to tie for 38th place.
• Tied for 45th was Matt Plunkett, who scratched a 69 during the opening round to finish at 69-76-73—218 (+8).
• James McKee and Gunnar Doyle rounded out Army's squad, tying for 50th after shooting a nine over par. McKee finished 72-71-76—219, while Doyle scored 72-71-76—219.

"There were a lot of great things from the weekend, but we're disappointed in how we finished off today's round. We had a chance to really move up the leaderboard, but we didn't play the final 3-4 holes very well. That is something we can work on in qualifying over the next week in preparation for UTEP's tournament.
"We would like to congratulate the Northwestern golf team on their co-medalist performance with Penn State and thank them for hosting such a first-class event along with Evanston Golf Club."
