El Paso, Texas – After the opening day at the Price's "Give 'Em Five" Invitational, Army West Point golf sits in 12th place.
The Black Knights posted a score of 295 (+11) on the first day to sit in front of Pacific in the tough 13-team tournament. Host Texas-El Paso currently leads the invitational after notching a score of 275 (-9).
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• James McKee was the Cadets' best golfer on Friday and is currently tied for 18th after finishing even on the day with a score of 71.
• Justin Williamson posted a three-over par (74) to put him tied for 51st after the first day, while Gunnar Doyle and Nick Turner each turned in scores of 75 (+4) to sit tied for 61st.
• Matt Plunkett closed out Army's five-man team with a score of 77 (+6) to finish tied for 70th.
• Texas State's Calvin Ross and Texas-El Paso's Charles Corner lead the field after earning a 64 (-7) during the opening round.
• The second round will resume on Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Mountain Time.
