ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Evancho increased his point streak to seven games. Over the stretch, he has posted eight points for the Cadets.
- It was also his seventh power play goal of the season to rank him second nationally this season.
- Wilkinson's assist was his ninth of the year, the most of an Army defender this year.
- Â Tyler Pham dished out his sixth assist in the last six games for Army to increase his total on the year to 10. He and freshman Dominic Franco are the only two Cadets with double-digit assist totals.
- The Cadets played in their fourth overtime game of the season.
- The Black Knights have yet to be shutout in 20 games this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Knights capitalized on the first power play opportunity of the game to push them up 1-0 with two minutes to go in the first frame.
- Evancho scored off a back door pass from Dalton MacAfee who assisted on the play along with Wilkinson, his ninth of the season.
- Soucie netted a full-strength goal with 40 seconds left in the same period to put the Black Knights ahead 2-0 after rolling off the boards.
- The assists were credited to Taylor Maruya and Brendan McGuire, their sixth and fourth helpers of the year, respectively.
- The Cadets continued their momentum into the second stanza and scored 39 seconds in. Andrle had a snapshot just below the blue line which snuck past Aidan Pelino. C.J. Reushlein setup the play by pushing the puck towards Trevor Fidler who found Andrle on the breakaway.
- Bentley then replaced Pelino with Jayson Argue who recorded the win over Army in Thursday night's matchup.
- The Falcons got on the board after the Black Knights lost the puck during 4-on-4 play seven minutes into the second. Bentley scored on its rebound on a breakaway.
- Wilkinson answered back for the Black Knights two minutes later with the first goal of his career. He was assisted by Pham and Franco. Less than a minute later, the Falcons netted their second of the night to cut Army's lead to two.
- Soucie struck again in the third period on Army's second power play conversion of the night. Ryan Nick took the initial shot off the pass from Fidler and Soucie redirected the puck to the top shelf.
- Bentley scored back-to-back goals within two minutes to make it a one-goal game at 5-4 with eight minutes remaining in the game and another to close-out regulation with a 5-5 tie.
- The Black Knights got off three shots in overtime, the most this season, but it wasn't enough to be the difference maker.
UP NEXT
- The Black Knights will return to Tate Rink next weekend to host Mercyhurst for two games. The puck will drop 7:05 p.m. both nights against the Lakers.
