Freshman Abby Halbrook earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors for her performance in the 1500 meter run at the Larry Ellis Invitational last weekend. She placed 12th out of 79 runners with a time of 4:29.77, the fastest time by any Black Knight in the event this spring.
She followed fellow freshman Cassie Mundekis in earning the award. Last week, Mundekis finished sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.60. Senior Haley Winters will be joining the two as part of the distance medlay relay team that will be competing for the Cadets.
"The distance medley is an event we feel like we can be competitive in," stated Smith. "(Halbrook and Mundekis) first experience at this meet will be an interesting one and we would like to expose them to the level of competition that will be at this meet. I think they will handle it well."
Two Black Knights posted third-place performances in field events in Princeton as well. Senior Cody Rothschild earned third in the discus throw with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 44.18 meters while sophomore Briyah Brown placed on the podium in the shot put with a 14.93-best throw.
